Seeing God Clearly and Accurately
Isaiah 53:1-12
Our broken lives direct us to a longing deep within to know and experience something better than this world has to offer.  Scripture tells the story of the One, Jesus, who came to lead us into this kingdom from above.  And as we listen to both the writers of the Old Testament, as well as the writers of the Gospels, we come to see Jesus clearly and accurately, and are compelled to follow in his footsteps.

    Reaching Out
    Jeremiah 46:1-5; 27-28
Whether we consciously acknowledge it or not, most of us have created a map of our lives and set ourselves within a safe place.  There are borders surrounding us, and we seldom cross those lines for fear of what might lie beyond our comfort zone.  But if we follow the map we are given in Scripture, we will find ourselves exploring new horizons, and reaching out to new people in meaningful ways.

    Living in Hope
    Jeremiah 32:6-15
As Christians, we take seriously our beliefs and convictions, which is a good thing.  But sometimes, we clench our beliefs but fail to act.  When this happens our lives take on the persona of "all talk, no action".  Jeremiah teaches us how to turn our beliefs into practical acts of faith and hope.

    Seeking the Whole Life
    Jeremiah 37:11-16
We often know the names of the people who make headlines. But in the Christian life, popularity counts for little. God's main purpose for each one of us is that we learn how to treat others fairly and justly, be compassionate and loyal in our love, and not take ourselves too seriously, but yet take God seriously. Jeremiah becomes a companion on the way for us, and he provides us with a vision for how to flourish, even amidst the pain, doubts, fatigue and disruptions of life.

    An Invitation and a Promise
    Jeremiah 29:4-14
Whether it is changing schools, moving to a new town, starting a different job, or even facing the disruption of an accident, illness, or divorce, undesired circumstances usually make us feel dislocated and frightened. Our lives can be easily rearranged without our permission. The question for each one of us is this - will I complain and feel sorry for myself or live at my best in the place where I find myself?

Pay Attention to What Is Best
    Jeremiah 35:1-5
Every person is going somewhere and moving in some direction. The question is, how do we regularly calibrate our lives so that we don't succumb to misorientation, but, instead, move forward toward living a life that flourishes?...  It took an obscure group of people to teach Jeremiah and the Israelites how to pay attention to what is most important.

    A Live Wire
    Jeremiah 36:1-7
No matter where you are at on your spiritual journey, there is an essential component you can't do without, and that is the word of God. The Bible is the single book which we must acquire and read. It is the one resource that can enable us to move forward in our faith, no matter where we seem to be stranded at the moment. God's word teaches us how the best life gets constructed and can be lived.

    Persistence
    Jeremiah 25:1-6
For most of us, there are aspects of our lives that stay relatively the same. If you have been married to the same person, lived in the same house, worked in the same job, attended the same church, and followed the same God, for a lengthy period of time, the danger is that boredom will set in, and you will get stuck in a rut... Jeremiah teaches us how we can learn to remain committed to a higher purpose, continuously breathe new life into our imaginations and keep our spirits alive, even though the routine is the same.

    Running the Race
    Jeremiah 15:15-21
Many people choose to live the life of faith by centering their attention on the finish line rather than the race itself.  It's easier to show up for church on Sunday, than walk closely with Christ between Sundays, it is easier to throw yourself into a service project or event now and then with great enthusiasm, instead of believing through tough times and praying through trials.  But Jermiah offers us another way, where we learn how to run the race, not just show up at the finish.

    Conflicting Expectations
    Jeremiah 20:1-6
The fact of the matter is that most of us have mixed beliefs about God. We believe he is loving, good and generous, but we have a difficult time living as if that is true. We have a great need to learn how to live into our beliefs, so that our lives become expressions of the greater truths we hold dear. Jeremiah teaches us how we can embrace truth, even when our circumstances signal doubt and despair.
